This conversation with twin brothers Alan and Michael Fleming will focus on their collaborative artistic practice and elements that inform their artwork. The brothers will show some of their work and discuss what it means to make work from a shared experience of the world. The conversation will also open up to a broader discussion of collaboration vs.competition, symmetry as a conceptual process as well as a formal one, and the idiosyncrasies of being identical twins.
Alan and Michael Fleming will also be involved with an evening of performances that will take place on October 25, 8pm at Defibrillator Performance Art Gallery, 1136 N. Milwaukee Avenue, www.dfbrl8r.org
Their performance is part of the exhibition "Imperfect Symmetry: A Compendium" Curated by Sara Black and Karsten Lund currently on view at the A + D Gallery, Columbia College, Chicago, IL
